Vista Hills Church  was founded in 1975 as a satellite of First Baptist Church of El Paso. The small seed congregation was originally known as First Baptist East and held services in the music room of Eastwood Middle school .  In 1977 the church moved into a small newly-built  facility at its current location. The church changed its name to Vista Hills Baptist Church to better identify with its new home in the Vista Hills Sub-division in what was the far-east side of El Paso. Since then the church facilities have been expanded twice and the church now finds itself in what is generally accepted as the geographical center of El Paso.  In 1997 Vista Hills dropped the Baptist designation from its name and began functioning as a non-denominational church devoted to minister to the physical needs of El Paso/Juarez while striving to advance the Kingdom of God through His saving gospel message here and abroad.

Statement of Beliefs

The Bible- both The Old and The New Testament- is inspired by God and the final authority for all we believe, teach and practice.
2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

There is only one God, the creator, eternally existing in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 4:6; John 1:1-2
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  That He was and remains true God and man.
Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-20; Philippians 2:5-11

The Holy Spirit indwells and gives spiritual life to all believers. He enables them to understand biblical truth, empowers them for godly living, give spiritual gifts and equips them for service and witness.
John 16:13; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Cor 12:4-11: Galations 5:22-23

Human beings, begining with Adam and Eve, were created by God in His image, they rebelled against God and sin caused them to experience both physical death and spiritual death- separation from God. All human beings are now born with a sin nature and stand guilty before God.
Gen 1:26-27; 3:1-24; John 3:16-17

Salvation comes from no other name then The Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins. All who believe in Him are justified before God. All who receive The Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God.

John 3:5-7, 16; Romans 8:16-17; Ephesians 2:8-9

Resurrection-The Lord Jesus Christ was resurrected in bodily form, ascended into heaven, where He lives today as our High Priest and Advocate.
Mark 16:1-15; Luke 24:1-9, 36-39; 1 cor 15:3-8; 1 John 2:1

Christ's Return-We look forward to the blessed hopeof the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
John 14:1-4; 1 Thes 4:13-18

Eternity-The Bible teaches the bodily resurredction of the just to Heaven and everlasting blessings in God's preesence and the unjust; to hell and eternal punishment separated from God's presence.
Luke 16:19-31; John 3:16-17; Titus 2:11-14

The New Testament Church is a local body of baptized believers with Jesus Christ as its head and the Holy Spirit as its guide.
John 16:13; Acts 2:41-47; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 4:1-6

The Ordinances-The local church is instructed in Scripture to observe two practices or ordinances: Baptism and Communion/ The Lord's supper. Baptism is a picture of our identification with Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. Communion is observed in remembrance of Hin and a testimony to His death for our sins until He comes again.
Lord's supper- Luke 22:14-20; 1 Cor 11:23-30
Baptism- Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41, 8:13, 10:47
